Energy Efficient Mortgages, known as EEMs, can make it easier for you to buy an energy efficient home by helping you to qualify for a larger mortgage. ENERGY STAR
ENERGY STAR is the government-backed symbol for energy efficiency. It identifies new homes, commercial buildings and more than 40 types of products that are energy efficient and offer the features, quality and personal comfort that today’s consumers expect. Products that can earn the ENERGY STAR include appliances, lighting, home office equipment, consumer electronics, and heating and cooling equipment.

ENERGY STAR Qualified Homes
ENERGY STAR Qualified Homes may look no different than standard homes, but they are significantly more energy efficient. These homes often include effective insulation, high performance windows, tight construction, efficient heating and cooling equipment, programmable thermostats, ENERGY STAR appliances and are independently verified to be ENERGY STAR compliant by a thirdparty inspector. ENERGY STAR homes can save homeowners hundreds of dollars annually on their energy bills while delivering more comfort and helping protect the environment.

Green Built North Texas is a voluntary partnership of local home builders, industry supporters, and sponsors committed to creating awareness and interest in the construction of higher-performance, lower-impact residential homes in North Central Texas. The program has a regionally-specific green building construction protocol that HBA members have deemed essential in order for a home to be recognized by the program. Homes built to this protocol conform to high standards of site management and waste recycling, water efficiency, indoor air quality, energy efficiency, materials, and homeowner education.

Through special events and media outreach, the program endeavors to make area homebuyers more aware of its green building program and its participants. Green Built North Texas also includes educational seminars and is supported by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Green Building Initiative™.

The HBA's goal is to establish a green building program that is recognized by municipalities and consumers throughout the region. Green Built North Texas also plans to establish a higher level of green building achievement that will allow builders to advance their building product to meet both consumer desires and their own business plans.
